Full or Limited delegation for Team Roles
When limited delegation is enabled for a Team Role, you will notice you will be asked to choose between Full and Limited delegation when you assign a user to that Team Role.
The difference between the two options is the following:
- Full delegation: when you assign a user to a Team Role with full delegation, you are giving them the same permissions and accountabilities that you have for that Team Role.
- Limited delegation: when you assign a user to a Team Role with limited delegation, you are giving them the permissions to perform the accountabilities of that Team Role, but not all the permissions that you have as an Owner. For example, if you assign a user as a Limited Owner, they will be able to manage Access Control requests and manage Team Roles assignments, but they won't be able to assign or remove Full Owners for the Owner Team Role.
The nuances between the two options may vary based on the Team Role, so make sure to check the specific permissions and accountabilities for each Team Role in your project when you assign a user to it.
Team Roles Responsibilities
In this table you can find a summary of all accountabilities for each Team Role:
| Accountability | Owner | Limited Owner | Data Access Manager (Full or Limited) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manage Team Roles assignments | Yes | Yes (except Owner role) | No |
| Manage Access Control through ACL Panel | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Receive notifications for Access Control requests | Yes (when no Data Access Manager assigned) | Yes (when no Data Access Manager assigned) | Yes |
As you can notice, the responsibilities between a Full and Limited Data Access Manager are the same. In fact, as of now Witboost is not distinguishing between the two types of delegation for the Data Access Manager role, but this may change in the future when we will introduce more responsibilities to this role.
