Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Governance Entity Lifecycle
Can I edit my governance entity after creating it?
Yes, you can edit all the fields of your governance entity after creating it as longs as is still in the Draft status.
To edit the entity, go into Governance > Registry
, find the entity you created and click on the contextual menu to
find
the Edit tool. This tool is only visible if the governance entity is in the Draft status.
My entity is not anymore editable, what can I do?
After a Governance Entity leaves the Draft status, it can not be editable anymore, as it would break the migrations the data teams might already be doing to comply with the policy or metric you designed. For this reason you need to design carefully the governance entity before transitioning it out of the Draft status, running the necessary tests with the test benchmark tool.
However, if you already published the governance entity, you will need to create a new version of it and Deprecate the older one, following the advice given in versioning a governance entity.
Evaluating a Governance Entity
The severity of an evaluation result of a governance entity is not the one I defined, is this an error?
Some statuses limit the severity levels of the result your governance entity produces. For example, if a Governance Entity with a severity level of Error is either in Grace or Deprecated status, it will only throw Warning errors, as an Error severity would block deployments, raising complaints on data teams that are still on the transition window between versions of a governance entity or adapting to a new governance entity you published in Grace status.
As soon as you publish the Governance Entity in an Enabled status, the severity level you defined for the policy will come into action. (See Governance Entity lifecycle).
